Clinical supervision, teaching and treatment for mental health professionals, Dr. Lynn Friedman Washington DC Psychologist

Clinical supervision and consultation

I am active in supervising, teaching and treating clinicians and clinicians-in-training.

Supervision with licensed clinicians (technically known as "consultation") who are interested in more fully develping their clinical skills.

I am a psychologist, psychoanalyst. My doctoral training in clinical psychology focused on family systems, CBT and humantic (Rogerian approaches); for this reason, I am quite comfortable conceptualizing through a broad range of theoretical lenses; and, I can translate from one theoretical approach to the other.

I work with local clinicians in face-to-face consultation and with those located elsewhere, via telephone, face-time and skype. If you are a clinician seeking this sort of consultation, I welcome your calls, at: 301.656.9650.

Chair, Fellowship Program, Washington Center for Psychoanalysis

I chair the fellowship program. This 18 hour six week program is focused on exposing fellows to the rudiments of psychoanalysis. We welcome an educationally and culturally diverse cohort which includes: not only clinicians, but university academicians and K-12 educators.

Teaching Analyst, Washington Psychoanalytic Institute

I teach clinical technique, case conceptualization, pathological formations and clinical writing; In 2013, I was recognized as the Teacher of the Year.

University Faculty

Since 1999, at Johns Hopkins University, I have been teaching psychodynamic psychotherapy, building a successful private practice, innovative career counseling practices and organizational consultation. Prior to that I taught at Carnegie Mellon (1986 - 1999) and at the University of Pittsburgh (1979 - 1985).

Treating mental health professionals

An important part of my practice entails treating mental health professionals. I greatly enjoy this work. Also, I have sub-specialties in anxiety, depression and work-life (career) concerns.
